2014 did not start off very well for my family. My brother, who was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, had to have emergency open heart surgery. During his surgery, we found out that my mom’s close friend Sue, my rep for Polka Dot Mitten, had passed away from a massive heart attack.
Heart conditions are near and dear to my family. Mike and I have decided to donate a portion of our sales each month to the American Heart Association in Sue’s honor. She really, truly made our company grow more than I ever could have imagined. Because of her hard work, our company is continuing to grow even though she is gone.
My mom is also working hard on organizing a “Go Red for Women” walk in honor of Sue. It will go from Saugatuck to Douglas. She doesn’t have a date set, but it will be sometime once the snow is gone and the weather is warmer. When we have all the details for that, I will be sure to do a post about it!
