sometimes I just want to paint!

sometimes I just want to paint!

Right now, we’re in between assignments for Bootcamp.  I haven’t gotten my paints out in a long time, so tonight, I decided to have some fun and make a mess.  I used the same words and some of the same patterns from my cuckoo clock assignment, but gave it a completely different feel.  I really like how it turned out!  Maybe I should get the paints out more often!...
Besides making signs…

Besides making signs…

Lately (besides making signs)… Art school has been fun!  The first week, I created a fabric design inspired by two of my great grandmas.  Here’s the post about that.  I ordered some fabric with my designs from Spoonflower.com, and I love how it turned out!  I’m going to have someone make it into tea towels or pot holders.   Last week, we designed ceramic plates with bromeliads.  I didn’t even know what bromeliads were until last week.  Here’s what I came up with for it.  I ended up turning them into signs (available in-store at it is what it is right now), and I might order some actual plates from Cafe Press with the designs on them just for fun.  And this week we designed a children’s book cover for a Russian folktale called “The Language of the Birds.” I’m not very good at drawing people, but when I was about 11 or 12 years old, my sister and I created a family of characters called “The Hammerheads.”  The mom and dad were anita and james, and the two kids were beverly and humdrum.  They all had wide, squashed heads and square bodies. Don’t ask why because I don’t know.  But we made all kinds of Hammerhead stories, and then we would video tape the pages we drew and narrate them. Anyway, there was a boy in “the language of the birds.”  I really can’t draw people, so I decided to use Humdrum Hammerhead as the main character.   Next week’s art school theme is Wall Decor.  Should be a good week for...
