We have a very small retail shop in front of the studio, and you are more than welcome to visit! We don't get a lot of foot traffic at our location, so during the winter, our hours in-studio are limited. However, I’m happy to meet you there any time if you’d like to visit! MY NAME IS KATIE DOUCETTE
I have always loved being creative. Rearranging furniture, decorating, and painting have always been my go-to hobbies, but creating art and designing little decorations for my home has always been my favorite.
In 2011, my husband and I scraped together enough money to start a small gift shop in Douglas MI, with the help of my parents. Our budget to buy inventory was tiny at first. To make ends meet and grow the business, we started making small wooden plaques ourselves. My little signs caught the eye of one of the wholesale reps. She said if we were up for making lots more, she could sell them all over Michigan. We agreed to her offer and with that little push, Polka Dot Mitten was born. (we’re forever thankful, Sue!)
We have grown slowly but steadily over the years from our kitchen counter to our basement family room, to our present-day pole barn on Blue Star Highway in Saugatuck. All of our products are handmade and assembled in studio by our little team. We have a small retail shop in the studio, and we sell wholesale to gift shops throughout Michigan. We’re slowly making our way into gift shops throughout the midwest and the rest of the United States as well!

My love of creating art has now expanded beyond the bounds of Polka Dot Mitten. I am a licensed artist and I design products for several other gift lines that sell nationwide.

Studio Info
Our studio is located at 3383 Blue Star Highway in Saugatuck.
We have a very small retail shop in front of the studio, and you are more than welcome to visit! We don't get a lot of foot traffic at our location, so we are usually only here when we have orders to make. Most of the time we are open Monday-Thursday from 10am -3pm, but we're happy to meet you here outside those hours if we know you are coming!
